Our recent internet safety event, hosted at Newcastle Academy in the library, was attended by parents and carers of young people between the ages of 9 and 13 years from local primaries and secondary schools.

Lynne Nelson from Families First ran through a presentation on the internet threats to young people today, and together with John Dooley, Head of IT at UE Trust gave practical hints and tips to ensure home and mobile settings are secure. They suggested areas for discussion and ways in which parents and carers can support their children making appropriate choices on the internet. Leaflets and documentation was provided for parents to take home, supported by Internetmatters.org.
